The Jacx of all Trades | Jaclyn Schanes is the Show Pony

“To call Jaclyn Schanes simply an artist is an understatement.  The 26-year-old graduate of the College for Creative Studies is a woman of many impulses.  She’s a costume designer who’s work is featured in the new film starring Iggy Pop.  She’s a painter, a photographer, a glass-blower, a musician and someone she says who tries to turn the mundane, like a trip to the store, into an artful experience.” – Rob St. Mary, WDET 101.9FM

See Jaclyn Schanes and her work at this year’s Emerge and See live art and music fusion festival, presented by Freshtight Designs, happening September 11th at The Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, MI.

Show Pony is about the collective actions of the attending art patrons and therefore, a social and psychological experiment involving the power of the crowd.  Show Pony asks the viewer what is more important, the art or the artist, or are they inexorably tied?  Show Pony is about the sound of creativity, anticipation and inner dialogue. Schanes has recorded her intimate thoughts and emotions during the process of producing the exhibit.  Show Pony represents the struggle of unknown artists in a world that is fast losing interest in the static visual image.
