87797.87798Inset.inset“Portraying contemporary culture through the lens of yesterday’s popular culture,” Chicago’s Ken Wilson blends his own sketches and paintings with vintage photos and discarded wood with splashes of color and texture.

His collages are a combination of old publications clippings and inspiration drawn from the likes of Gustav Klimt, The Dadaists and comic books.

Some of his recent work involves a series of “Dead Rock Stars” (Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles) and some of whom aren’t even dead (yet).

His work has been shown at The Spareroom in Chicago, as part of The Around the Coyote Arts Festival, the DEPART-ment store of handmade goods, Looptopia, and THE ARTIST PROJECT, part of Art Chicago.
